Working with a range of paint media, my current paintings combine various approaches and explore their interaction, contrasts and textures. Colour is built up in glazes to generate a layered transparency and bringing depth to the work. Large scale canvases are filled with evanescent light.
Many of my influences stem from the rich vibrant colours of the Mediterranean landscape and the light, with its effect and transformation of surfaces.
I'm currently exploring these themes while visiting Greece - the land of light- and where I'm also teaching.
My current work examines a country going through change, landscapes seen out of season with often skeleton reminders of the ancient and former past.
Recent works have been mainly on paper using water colour washes.

Having established myself as a decorative artist and designer my paintings refect the many aspects of my skills.
I am used to working to commission and undertake Trompe L'oel and mural work.
I would be available for any commissioned work, related to my current practise.
