About Artist

After several decades of painting, exhibiting and teaching followed by an extended period of reflection and research I am at last able to see the tunnel at the end of the light.
In my recent paintings I have endeavoured to capture the essence of a person in the marks and colours of paint on the canvas. They are not portraits, in the traditional sense, but rather a sensation by sensation record of a lengthy visual and emotional relationship.
Underlying all that I do is a conviction that an understanding of the figure, gained through careful observational drawing, is fundamental to my work.
