I incorporate the theory of ‘concept drawings’ (Arnheim, 1969) into my automatically derived linear work. The imagery relates to personal episodes that are commonly experienced, and the challenges of creating a visual language that represents the female learning journey. I am returning to arts practice after a number of years of studying and facilitating lifelong learning within the university sector. I wish now to incorporate my later experiences into a visual form.
I originally studied fine art at Virginia Commonwealth University (Painting and Printmaking, BFA) and at Louisiana State University (Studio Arts, MFA). Having taught fine art for five years, I went on to study Lifelong Learning at University of Surrey (MSc) and at Birkbeck, University of London (PhD) and now work at the Institute of Work Based Learning at Middlesex University.
To be completed.
