ROLIOMETRIES: A SERIES OF WOODCARVINGS INSPIRED BY NATURAL FORMS AND GEOMETRY.
The inspiration for these carvings came from two sources
a) Naturally occurring forms such as the spirals found in shells, horns and plant growth.
b) Geometric shapes like the golden section, spheres and circles.
All of the above are attractive shapes which look simple and pure but when studied closely reveal themselves to be extremely complex.
This body of work (which is still in progress) celebrates those natural forms using wood and geometry to change and control nature with the aim of producing pieces which still have the essence of pure, at urial simplicity and being attractive in their own right.
